GETTING TO YORK PRIDE

Everything you need to know about how to reach us on the big day...

By bus

First York is offering a special online unlimited travel ticket for the whole day on Saturday 1 June for the discounted price of just £3.50!

It's valid for travel all day on Saturday 1 June on all First York local buses across the city.

How to buy your ticket

  • Step 1 - Download the First Bus App
  • Step 2 - Head to the 'Tickets' tab, select 'Buy' and then choose your area as 'York'
  • Step 3 - Click into 'Promotions', select the Pride Day ticket
  • Step 4 - Buy your ticket(s)
  • Step 5 - Activate your ticket(s) before you travel
  • Step 6 - Catch the bus all day to get around York

The ticket will be available to purchase from 31 May and is valid for travel on 1 June only.

Buses to the start of the Parade March at York Minster:

Get any bus service to York centre - the Parade starts from Duncombe Place, which is just a short distance from most stops

By car

Getting to York Pride by car:

The easiest way to travel to York Pride by car is to use the Askham Bar Park & Ride site, next to the A64 - Satnav postcode YO24 1LW

First York run Park & Ride Route 3 between Askham Bar Park & Ride and York City Centre (handy for the start of the Parade) and on Pride Day they're making special extra stops to drop off and pick up by our Festival site at the Mount Vale bus stop (at the junction of Tadcaster Road and Knavesmire Road)

Buses run every 10-15 minutes (last buses back to Askham Bar P&R are at approximately 20:00) and each bus has an accessible space - Check out the timetable here.

York Park & Ride square

Unfortunately we have no car parking facilities at the Knavesmire site - we have limited parking for those with a blue badge only. If you have a blue badge there is no need to book this just turn up on the day with your blue badge. Please note that only resident permit holders can park in most nearby streets.

The York Pride main festival event is held on the Knavesmire, next to York Racecourse.

A number of short-term temporary road closures will be in place on the day to allow the Parade to safely pass through. These will be signposted in advance, but please allow extra time if travelling.

By train

LNER, TransPennine Express, Northern, CrossCountry Trains and Grand Central all run train services to York from all over the region and across the country.

Plan your journey in advance and check before you travel at National Rail Enquiries.

York Station is a 10 minute walk from the start of the York Pride Parade outside the York Minster on Duncombe Place, and a short bus journey (see bus details above) or approximately 25 minute walk to and from the York Pride Festival site on the Knavesmire.

By scooter

The nearest TIER scooter parking bays are at Exhibition Square for the start of the Parade at York Minster, and at the junction of Bishopthorpe Road & Campleshon Road for the Festival on the Knavesmire.
