Aviva, one of York’s largest employers, shows its support for partner charity York Pride by raising its rainbow over its riverside offices.

This year, the insurer will be front and centre at both the York Pride Parade and the Main Event at the Knavesmire, supporting York Pride in their work to make York the friendliest city in the U.K. for the LGBT community. The relationship is an extension of Aviva’s commitment to equality in the workplace, as it continually strives to create an increasingly diverse and inclusive workplace for all.  The Aviva Pride LGBT and Allies network has more than 1600 members across the UK and the company has been the only insurer included in the Top 100 Employers in Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index for the last ten years.

Greg Stephenson, Chair of York Pride, says: “It has been incredible working with Aviva over the last three years, and having them as partner has been wonderful. They have offered a mass of support to a charity and have championed us in making York Pride 2019 the biggest and best yet. For a charity completely run by volunteers, it’s amazing to have the support of one of the biggest companies in York behind us. We can’t wait to see how the partnership continues to develop in the future. On behalf of all those in York Pride, we want to say a huge thank you to Aviva.”

Last year, York Pride had its most successful year to date. It was the highest attended York Pride ever, with an estimated 10,000 people attending the Parade and Main Event throughout the day, and the charity looks forward to seeing Pride grow and expand even more in 2019.

This year, York Pride will take place on Saturday 8th June. For more information please visit yorkpride.org.uk
